AWG Raffle Tickets Ready for Sale

G'day everyone,   firstly I want to congratulate you all on your great skiing this weekend during the Don Sumanik ski races.  I hope you had fun !!  It was fantastic to see all your beautiful smiles at the chalet and on the trails.   Good on you guys !!!  Bravo,  vous êtes de superbes skieurs  !!!

Scotty (our Mascot)
was very impressed and very proud to see so many athletes out at the AWG trials and he said that you guys all looked super strong.   He loved to see you smiled and he wished he could have skied as well this weekend but his job is very demanding as a full time cheerleader and mascot.  He is planning to do lots of skiing during the Christmas break and hoping to see you guys out there on the trails.

AWG Raffle Tickets

As you might know,  athletes who are going to the Arctic Winter Games are encouraged to sell raffle tickets to offset the cost of their trip to the Arctic Winter Games.   There is a participant fee for the Arctic Winter Games (it cover the cost for the trip and the equipment (lots of very cool fancy waxes and the coaches fees).    70 % of the profit from the sale of the tickets goes to the athletes account and 30 % to the prizes and administration for the raffle.   This is a great way to get community support for our athletes and offset the cost of your participation in the AWG.   Lots of athletes completely cover their participant fees by selling raffle tickets.  Get out there and sell!  People in our community love to encourage active kids.  Be polite,  explain what you are doing,  be proud and thank them …you will be surprised to see how easy it is !!!   I will be happy to buy tickets if you want to do a "dry run" and try your sale pitch :-)  Just come and see me !

Where do you get your Raffle Tickets

The Raffle tickets are available as of today at Sport Yukon.   Athletes can go to Sport Yukon,  sign out their raffle booklets and get going on their fundraising.    The Sport Yukon office is open until noon on December 24th and back on January 4th during business hours.   Athletes will sign out a sheet for their booklets agreeing to the rules for the raffle.   A parent can sign them out on their behalf.   Tickets are 5$ each (3.25$ goes to the AWG athlete for their participant fee).

If you have any question about the raffle or the raffle tickets,  please do not hesitate to call me.

I wish you and your family a marvellous christmas.  See you all on the tails !
